Provider Credentialing Specialist
The Role
This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end execution of provider credentialing workflows across multiple states and payers. You’ll act as the day-to-day point of coordination between clinicians, payers, credentialing platforms, and internal teams to ensure applications are submitted, followed up on, and brought to completion without delays.
This role supports the RCM & Credentialing Manager by executing on credentialing processes, managing follow-ups, and escalating exceptions or complex cases as needed. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys structured work, consistent follow-through, and taking ownership of tasks from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full credentialing lifecycle for clinicians across multiple states
- Track credentialing status by provider, payer, and state in a centralized system
- Submit and follow up on payer credentialing applications (commercial)
- Coordinate with clinicians to collect required documentation (licenses, attestations, CAQH updates, etc.)
- Perform regular outreach to payers and credentialing entities to confirm status and resolve issues
- Identify and escalate blockers or delays early
- Maintain clear documentation and timelines for each credentialing workstream
- Provide regular status updates to internal stakeholders
- Suggest process improvements and standardization as the practice scales
What We’re Looking For
- Prior experience with provider credentialing (behavioral health strongly preferred)
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Comfortable managing multiple providers, payers, and timelines at once
- Proactive communicator who is not afraid to follow up repeatedly
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits
- Familiarity with credentialing tools and platforms (e.g., CAQH ProView, payer portals)
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Nice to Have
- Experience credentialing across multiple states
- Familiarity with digital or telehealth practices
- Experience working with small or early-stage healthcare organizations
Engagement Details
- Part-time contractor role (~10 hours to start, workload-based)
- $20/hr
- Fully remote
