Role
This senior role sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure operations. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of software systems and cloud infrastructure powering Attune's transcranial focused ultrasound neurostimulation device. The ideal candidate brings strong full-stack engineering skills and deep infrastructure expertise, and will mentor junior engineers, champion DevOps best practices, drive key technical decisions, and collaborate closely with hardware, regulatory, and clinical teams. Title and compensation are commensurate with experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Architect software systems and cloud infrastructure; establish coding standards, infrastructure patterns, and best practices.
- Software Development: Design and maintain scalable software across mobile apps, cloud services, APIs, and embedded systems interfaces.
- Infrastructure & DevOps: Deploy and manage AWS cloud infrastructure; build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate build/test/deploy processes.
- Monitoring & Incident Response: Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting; participate in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management; ensure compliance with ISO 13485, IEC 62304, HIPAA, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
- Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain reproducible, auditable infrastructure deployments using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
- Testing & Quality: Champion unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices embedded throughout CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor engineers, conduct code/infrastructure reviews, and partner with hardware, regulatory, and clinical teams.
This position requires 5 days/week in person at our San Francisco office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience spanning software development and infrastructure/DevOps engineering
- Proficiency in multiple languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, C++, Bash, or similar)
- Experience in database administration and optimization using PostgreSQL
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD tooling
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Interest in shaping the future of non-invasive brain stimulation using focused ultrasound
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical device, HIPAA compliance, and healthcare data security experience
- Experience with signal processing, computer vision, numerical algorithms, and machine learning
- iOS development (Swift/Objective-C) and embedded systems (C/C++) experience
