We are looking for a Senior Functional QA Engineer (SDET) with significant experience in Quality Engineering
for commercial-grade, consumer-facing web applications that leverage Machine Learning (ML) tools and
technologies. This role involves collaborating with ML and Engineering teams to ensure the reliability,
scalability, and performance of our healthcare application, built using ReactJS, Firebase, Node.js, PostgreSQL,
Speech-to-Text, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Text-to-Speech. The ideal candidate has a strong
background in functional testing, automation, and Agile methodologies and will contribute to building the next
generation of our app that will be used by millions of users all over the world.
Ellipsis Health is in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we are open to remote candidates for this role preferably
in the US or Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and execute functional test plans, test cases, and test scripts for the STS Pipeline.
- Work closely with developers, ML engineers, and product managers to understand requirements and
- ensure test coverage.Identify, document, and track defects, working with engineering teams for resolution.
- Implement and maintain automation frameworks to enhance test efficiency and coverage.
- Drive continuous improvements in test strategies, processes, and tools.
- Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to quality metrics reporting.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide QA input in sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and promote best testing practices within the team.
- Lead functional validation efforts and oversee test environment setup for engineering and customer
- demonstrations.
- Triage defects and collaborate closely with product teams to ensure seamless releases.
- Work with partners and vendor teams to validate integration with the AICM platform.
- Perform manual validation for pipeline changes in Voice & Speech Analysis, ensuring critical
- configuration adjustments and feature updates are thoroughly tested.
- Handle production deployments, hot fixes, and rollouts to ensure a faster response to critical issues and
- customer requests.
- Work with the Implementation/Onboarding Team to review and triage production issues, identify root
- causes, and define an action plan to improve test coverage.
- Work with the Prompt Engineering team to review prompt changes and conduct data-driven testing to
- evaluate accuracy and identify corner cases
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in Functional QA/SDET roles with expertise in testing web and API-based
- applications.
- Strong knowledge of test design techniques, defect tracking, and QA methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Proficiency in API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or similar tools.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience testing applications that incorporate Machine Learning models and Speech-to-Text/Text-to-
- Speech technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in setting up test management templates, creating test plans, and establishing quality
- processes for releases.
- Basic understanding of LLMs and AI-enabled features for functional testing.
- Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to triage, prioritize bugs, and assess
- release risks.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with healthcare or medical applications.
- Knowledge of database testing, particularly PostgreSQL, including ETL flows for data extraction,
- reporting, and validation.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their testing implications.
- Experience with cross-browser testing frameworks and browser compatibility issues.
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Datadog, or similar.
